As the economy took a turn for the worse, air charter brokerages began opening and closing simultaneously while air carriers seemed to be buying and selling their operating certificates. My clients were sharing horror stories with me about flyers being overcharged, bait and switched aircraft, inexperienced pilots, and under satisfied by the salespeople in private aviation.
It seemed that they only cared about price and how much they were going to profit, and too many of them disregarded safety and the quality of the flights. This industry is full of high-turnover sales people who are unfamiliar with aircraft specifications and how air carrier operations function. Often times, this resulted in them being in business one day, and then closing shop the next.
Unfortunately, these practices hurt the honest professionals who were taking the responsible, consultative and advisory approach of supplying a safe and competitive charter flight option.
